Porter Cable has always made really good equipment although I believe their reputation for quality has suffered a bit in the recent past. This impact driver does seem to be solid. It's not a brushless motor. Instead they used a more traditional 4-pole motor, which means a bit more size and weight. That usually means a bit of a lower price however, and this one is pretty reasonable.

It does put 1495 inch/lbs of torque which should fill the need for most folks. Even driving 4-inch lag bolts should present no problems whatsoever.

Small but nice features are a LED light, belt clip and a bit holder. Little touches like this can be pretty important for good operational experience.

I think Porter Cable has been bringing the quality back up to their old standards and this one shows it. I would say it's not the highest tech out there, but a good solid piece at a decent price.
