The Makita XDT14Z 18V LXT is a step up from the XDT13Z that I reviewed earlier. It has all the features of that model: Brushless motor, all metal gear housing, STAR Protection Computer Controls™ that allows the motor and battery to communicate to protect against overloading, overdischarging and overheating and XPT™ EXTREME PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY to seal the tool from dust and water.

This model adds more oomph to the motor, giving 1550 inch/lbs of torque for an even more powerful screw-driving experience.

They also added Tightening Mode to help drive screws faster while protecting the fastener from damage.

Plus Quick Shift Mode™ that uses the motor's electronic controls to get the best balance of speed and torque.

Makita stepped it up a notch with this one. This is a fantastic impact driver.
